About the Project
FileWave is a cross-platform device management solution serving education and enterprise sectors. During my time with the team, the company was transitioning from a native desktop interface to a modern web-based application — a major move requiring thoughtful UI engineering and accessibility work.
My Role
I joined the team full-time in a scrum environment, contributing to the development and refinement of the new web admin interface. My work spanned hands-on coding, refactoring efforts, and UX collaboration.
What I Did
- Contributed to the React-based web frontend with features and bug fixes
- Led a major refactor of the CSS architecture, transitioning to SCSS for better maintainability
- Collaborated with the UX team to implement interface improvements
- Worked on accessibility enhancements and contributed to internal documentation toward WCAG compliance
- Helped shape more scalable styling conventions across components
Outcome
The web-based admin interface launched in Q4 2020 as part of FileWave 14, bringing a more modern and maintainable platform to users. While the app itself is behind authentication, you can preview it via this demo video on YouTube →.
