Role: UX Designer & WordPress Developer
About the Project
CIN-CG (Center for Investigative Journalism of Montenegro) is a nonprofit newsroom producing investigative stories across multiple formats — articles, videos, and infographics. Their previous website faced a number of issues: security vulnerabilities, outdated WordPress setup, performance bottlenecks, and an overwhelming backend experience for editors.
The goal was to rebuild the platform from the ground up: visually emphasizing timely investigations, simplifying editorial workflows, and strengthening the technical foundation while continuing to use WordPress.
My Role
I led the UX and development process, working closely with the editorial team to align the website structure with their content priorities.
What I Did
- Created wireframes and low-fidelity prototypes to map out key flows
- Iterated through design rounds to align with editorial needs
- Delivered high-fidelity UX design for all key templates
- Configured a clean and secure WordPress setup
- Developed a custom theme using Oxygen Builder
- Optimized for SEO and improved security settings
- Provided training for journalists and editors
Outcome
The result is a fast, focused, and secure platform that supports CIN-CG’s mission to deliver impactful journalism. The new site structure highlights featured investigations and streamlines content publishing for the internal team.
